In 2015, Justin Trudeau famously announced that “There is no core identity; no mainstream in Canada,” relegating us to the status of the “first post-national state.” This sentiment certainly seems to resonate with the acolytes in the spectrum parties of the left – the NDP, the Liberals, and the Progressive “Conservatives.”
At a recent family gathering, one of my enlightened relatives made his sentiments known about the Trump tariffs; invoking their family’s mantra of ABA (Anything But American) as their policy in making purchases. This epidural thin mentality also emerged in discussion with another branch of the family who, as we have plans to attend a marriage in the US affirmed that they want to purchase as little as possible during our visit as long as the “orange clown” in office.
It should be noted that these “elbows up” mavericks are professing Christians who similarly fully adopted the “love your neighbour through submission to the state” strategy during Covid.
Elbows up? My foot. Try noses up and hands up in our collective surrender to the spirit of the age. Better yet, I believe a more fitting slogan – or more accurately, our epitaph – is the “Since we stand for nothing, we fall for anything.”
Ultimately, how can one expect to unite behind national pride based on the rallying cry, “Canada: We have no idea who we are, but we definitely aren’t Americans.”
When I attended school, we were introduced to the concept of situational ethics. This famously included the lifeboat scenario where students were tasked with playing God by determining who was worthy to get on the lifeboat and who was expendable. It was clear that the exercise was rigged to exclude the senior citizen, disabled person, and the priest. We were (ironically in the age of Covid) supposed to choose the doctor and other professional who served a more useful role. Somehow, the notion of self-sacrifice as a guiding principle was deemed irrelevant. Such is the fruit of an admixture of Darwinian, Machiavellian, and Malthusian ethics with liberal doses of Marxism flowering into secular pragmatism. It is no surprise that those weaned on or propagating this whimsical view of human worth deigned to adjudicate over who was or was not essential during the theatrical release of Covid.
Scripture tells us clearly that anything that is not of God is antichrist. This is the reality for present-day Canada. Tolerance was used as a feint to distract the gullible while a dogmatic spirit of the age system was erected. Many who have made a profession of faith in Christ somehow bought into the notion that we can and should leave our principles outside the door when we enter the public sphere. I’m here to tell you that for a Bible-believing Christian who grasps God’s calling on our lives, this is not just imprudent, but impossible.
I recently rewatched the classic film, Casablanca; seeking inspiration that is missing in much of our post-Christian reality. This classic was released during the height of World War II and, while undeniably a romance, it extols the virtues of courage and sacrifice. I won’t demean this masterpiece by offering a pithy summary, however, I do wish to highlight some details that I believe have relevance for modern day Canada.
The title refers to a geographical destination in France that engaged in a Faustian bargain whereby if they acquired conditional freedoms subject to tacit submission to the German occupiers. The region that avoided occupation was known as Vichy France where French authorities would remain in their positions by adapting to the prevailing fortunes of Germany and their allies. Casablanca’s celebrated neutrality makes it a gathering place for those seeking to flee the penumbra of Nazi control with hopes of acquiring letters of transit. Other residents simply make accommodations to their captors by not stepping out of line.
This idyllic façade is shaken when a legendary figure of the French underground (Victor Lazlo) who escaped from a Nazi concentration camp arrives on the scene. Hoping against hope, he endeavours to flee to a safe place to resume his work with his beautiful wife (Ilsa) at his side; all while under the watchful eye of German authorities.
Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart) runs a café in Casablanca who has preserved this privilege by adopting the submissive battle cry of: “I stick out my neck for no one.” There is a history between Bogart’s and Bergman’s character that complicates the situation. In the end, Rick sacrifices his neutrality for higher principles by sticking out his neck for Laslo and releasing the woman he loves for a more worthy cause.
I’d say it is undeniable that we are living in Vichy Canada and, ironically, those currently flying the Canadian flag believe they are on the side of the resistance. In reality these sunset patriots are demonstrating their penchant for acquiescence.
My title is a riff on the aphoristic designation of the sunshine patriot and summer soldier; Thomas Paine’s indictment of those who only extol their national pride in times of prosperity while retreating in the face of difficulty. The reality is that, while has never been safer to fly the red, white and maple, we are spiraling into a nosedive from which we may never recover. The reason for our dire circumstances is not that we have no core identity, but our nation has embraced dogmatic nihilism which, as I’ve stated, is antichrist in nature.
For anyone who doubts there is a national identity, I would ask you two simple questions:
- Does Canada allow for the free expression of divergent values and viewpoints or do they impose academically, socially, legislatively, and institutionally a uniform set of standards with penalties for any defiance?
- How many of these imposed principles and standards affirm or are consistent with biblical standards of morality?
I’ll wait right here.
By the way; given the institutional capture of our churches as well, many of you may deem the policy of wealth redistribution and welfare programs to be Christian policies. I invite you to comb the scriptures and point out where Christ directs that governments to be the instruments of charity and coercive confiscation as the means. These are in fact the obstacles to the true meaning of charity. Satan is a liar and a corrupter of truth and Christians who fall for it are like Eve in the garden, tricked into disobedience through the serpentine deception of: Did God really say?”
And this is precisely the point. It would be bad enough if we lived under a morally pragmatic system where the state allows us to be led by our libido to satisfy our libertarian id. They now require that we embrace godlessness and the morally virtuous pay the freight for licentious indulgences of their neighbours. To be clear, I do not fault those who reject God. Secularists are going to seculate. The blame rests with believers (and I include myself) who failed to stand athwart the headwinds of godlessness and preserve our nation from an antichrist takeover.
I find it amusing that those who blindly follow the unibrow parties that require obeisance to their diktats regard me as being political because I stand against those forces and seek a return to godly principles. I have been transparent about my shifting support for Trump (and opposition to all in the troika of leftist parties). In each case, my views are not based on allegiance to any political party or even politician, but to the extent they seek to return us to the principles of our Christian founding.
The blame is justly laid on the shoulders of believers who bought into the premise that acquiescence is the path to godliness. We were persuaded by the argument that tolerance can only be achieved by scrubbing anything conforming to a Christocentric culture in the furtherance of tolerance. Not only is Satan not interested in peaceful coexistence with God, but he hates his people because of his overarching contempt for God himself.
G.K. Chesterton rightly stated that when you lose the big laws, you don’t get no laws, but you get the small laws. We have been put in a straightjacket for how we must live our lives and assume that the fruits of our labours are owed to government instead of given by God for his glory and we are accountable for how we spend it. By extension, earthly authorities will similarly give an account for how they used their position. All will give an account before God.
So, what does all of this have to do with Trump and the “elbows up” movement of neo-nationalism (that until recently I was assured was a bad thing) from these sunset patriots? I’m glad you asked.
First, I do not wish to be exclusionary, so let’s start with the points that should find common cause between believers and unbelievers alike who presumably want a strong, if not free, Canada. To this point, it should be noted that those currently waving the flag are not the same as those who did so in Ottawa or on overpasses and byways en route to the Trucker Freedom convoy. The recent adoption of the Canadian flag is merely the latest iteration of the “Pride,” Ukraine, BLM, “Free Palestine,” and Indigenous Children’s Lives Matter (at least those not volitionally murdered by abortion, but the imaginary ones in non-existent mass graves) flags. In essence, a white flag is the backdrop until social convention and the fad of the land dictates the current iteration. These sunset patriots are telegraphing that they side with the tyrants and not with those taking major risks by opposing them.
As unsavoury as it may seem, imagine for a moment that you are – gulp – an American. Your president has come into office pursuing a spate of policies that he deems to be important. These include:
- Securing the national borders against fentanyl, drug and child sex traffickers
- Ejecting gang members (responsible for rape, theft, and murder), and other illegals that impose major costs on citizens (including taking jobs, housing, medical and social services
- Onshoring businesses that have migrated to nations that hate you and are engaged in egregious crimes against humanity
- Protecting children from harmful ideologies, medical castration, and graphic sex ed
- Restoring high academic standards and promoting merit-based hiring standards
- Ending waste, fraud and abuse in government in efforts to control spending, debt and deficit while reducing the tax burden for citizens
- Promoting personal health and putting an end to toxic chemicals in the food, air and water
- Thoroughly researching and making available data from pharmaceutical testing to ensure informed consent in medical choices
- Extricating the nation from membership and obligations to global organisations seeking to restrict rights and freedoms of citizens while costing vast sums of money
- Exposing corruption in government agencies committing egregious acts at home and abroad
- Keeping men out of women’s sports and private spaces; restoring the biological realities that there are only 2 genders
- Expanding free speech and access to news and other organisations to participate in debate and exchange of ideas and information free of censorship
- Exiting proxy wars that only benefit bad actors and the military industrial complex
Hopefully you all survived this and are still with me as I return you to your safe space and ask you to imagine that you are a proud Canadian. If your Prime Minister had the same agenda as the one listed above, would you be happy with their leadership – even if it also included 25% tariffs on your neighbour (to create pressure for objectives like stopping drug and sex trafficking as well as onshoring industry back to Canada)? I maintain that if that is not something you would welcome, you are a fool.
Trump is not the President of Canada (something you have clearly identified you never want to see); so, his priority is and should not be how his policies may impact Canada. That said, I want to toss in some more food for thought.
It is undeniable that the US carries Canada militarily and we can only waste the amounts of money we do on our pitiful healthcare system and social welfare hammock of services (including for illegals) because we have the protection of our daddy to the south. Additionally, if you were not aware, Canada has long imposed some major one-sided tariffs on the US for years and Trump is now calling for reciprocal tariffs. Now, let me ask you: Are tariffs bad, or only when the people we have already been levying tariffs against seek to level the playing field?
I contend that neither the United States nor Donald John Trump are our enemy, but the cultural Marxists that have brought us to our current state of inevitable collapse. The fact is that the US and Canada have been working in tandem (with the rest of the west) to force us toward a dystopian globalist future of enslavement to an antichrist system – and we are siding with our captors. The fact that so few believers are either aware or even care about how Trump, (a New York billionaire with a past steeped in infidelity and who has stated he has not done anything for which he needs forgiveness) is a stronger champion of Christian virtue than the flag-wavers decrying him should indict all of us.
Let’s look now at what the government who has manipulated us into clapping seals who just voted in an even more radical globalist that Justin Trudeau that most of you have just recently determined was not a good guy.
- Mark Carney was the finance minister for Trudeau who spent us into massive debt during his tenure as PM. Prior to this, Carney was in charge of several banks that he drove into the ground, yet our state-run media somehow failed to mention any of this.
- Carney is a stringent advocate for carbon taxes. He lifted them only when he saw that this overture would get the gullible to vote him into office. He only paused them and can reinstate them – likely once they capture enough counties through favourable recounts to give their party a majority. Incidentally, he is a champion of punishing other countries that fail to do enough to spare us from “climate change” through heavily taxing their goods, and this cost in turn is borne by us. This works much like a tariff, but without the objectives of securing our borders and ending the trafficking of drugs and children.
- He has strong allegiance to the World Economic Forum (like Trudeau) that served to rob us of our basic rights and freedoms. I’m sure this will extend beyond the furtherance of a surveillance state and the loss of medical freedom for the next flu variant to also locking us down to “save the planet” from “catastrophic global warming.” This includes his staunch advocacy for CBDC’s (Central Bank Digital Currencies) which promises to be the most effective tool for subjecting all citizens to a complete CCP level surveillance state based on a social credit score – likely based on our level of compliance with “climate change” and other leftist ideological acid tests.
- He has potential ties to Ghislaine Maxwell; Jeffrey Epstein’s partner in the establishment of a vast child sex trafficking ring. The client list is a who’s who of the richest and famousest and almost certainly serves as a tool to blackmail these compromised individuals to do the bidding of those pulling the strings. The problem, of course, is that we are not privy to the depth, extent, and specific individuals who are compromised, but these intentionally secreted details magnify and do not diminish the threat. Admittedly, many past presidents (and current President Trump) are seen in photos with Epstein and/or Maxwell. If Trump’s complicity is substantial, however, it is interesting that this was not the focus of the endless investigations rather than the perverse “crimes” on which they sought to indict him. Furthermore, he has brought into his administration those with the power and the will to investigate the Epstein/Maxwell crimes. Finally, Trump’s true connection with Epstein is irrelevant to the “elbows up” movement, however, Carney’s potential ties threaten all of Canada.
As a quick reference to these points, I am providing this link.
If this is too much conjecture for you (even though his track record is clear), let’s look at what this same group of united political operatives have done recently.
- Closed down small businesses and enriched the mega corporations during Covid
- Locked us down while going full-throttle in promoting Death by Doctor, rocketing us to the #1 nation to be killed by doctors – even without counting death and injury from forced experimental injections, medical neglect, and the withholding of safe and effective early treatments
- Spent us into massive debt while vastly raising the cost of living (i.e. through the aforementioned carbon taxes); and putting people out of work
- Revoked our right to travel and created rights based on willingness to comply with government mandates and renunciation of bodily autonomy, medical freedom, and the right to privacy
- Robbed our children of education and social interaction, celebrations, bodily autonomy and physical activity; stoking fear, depression, suicidal ideation (as well as actual suicide) and causing guilt over threatening the lives of grandparents for a minor flu with statistical zero risk of death
- Killed and injured children, pregnant women, and the unborn through an experimental untested series of shots that were never necessary and was always all risk and no benefit
- Left seniors to die isolated from their family, thus permitting neglect and facilitating a decline in their psychological and doubtless their physical health
- Caused divisions in families and between friends over whimsically determined social distancing rules
- Vilification and criminalization of protesting for basic human rights; imprisoning those with the temerity to stand for personal freedom
- Censoring any information that they did not want people to hear, hiding statistics, and prioritizing the objective of “stopping vaccine hesitancy” over preventing death and injury
- Wasting vast sums of money buying excessive numbers of Covid shots (10 for every Canadian) at the highest cost paid by any country, and throwing out millions of the purchased doses
- Criminalized holding church services, locking up pastors, chaining churches closed, and heavily fining pastors, elders and participants – even in outdoor services
- Invoking the war measures act against peaceful citizens seeking the right to return to the basic rights granted prior to 2020
- Freezing the bank accounts or those who decided they wished to support the objectives of the Freedom Convoy
- Vilified, while refusing to meet with the convoy participants and blaming them for an “occupation” that would have been resolved by the courtesy of actually listening to their reasonable requests
- Locking up leaders of protests for months or years based on charges of “mischief” and “inciting mischief” where no jail time would ever be justified
- Refusing to acknowledge death or injury from the shots by not doing autopsies and allowing “cause unknown” to be a satisfactory finding for citizens dead from side effects known to be associated with the shots
Considering all of the above, I don’t believe Trump’s tariffs are the hill to die on or that Canadians should be so gullible as to fall for such shallow and specious attempts to distract from the present dangers posed by authorities in our nation. If we were not so crippled by the items listed above, we would not even be so financially dependent as to become outraged over the tariffs. Worse yet, our antagonism has impeded efforts to negotiate with our greatest ally and instead, while the highly corrupted Mexican border is being sealed, Canada’s porous borders are only moving more into the spotlight. The neo-nationalist Vichy movement was a ploy to help Carney sail into office and it succeeded because useful idiots invited the Trojan to enter.
Canada is the mouse that roared and many who should know better are standing for the tyrant over the citizen. Worse than that, they are siding with a satanic agenda over God’s. Hopefully I have been more than crystal clear that I am not engaging in blasphemy by even hinting that Trump is a proxy for God or the Canadian political establishment are Satan’s minions. My point is that the more we deviate from God’s standards and fall for lies from the enemy, the more we inevitably sprint towards Gomorrah.
This is not Canada vs the big bad US bully. I never heard my pre-Trump extended family members assert their ABC (Anything But China) policy. The truth is that we are not self-sufficient as Canada is mostly an exporter of goods. If we aren’t buying American, especially given the tax burden we are under, we will be continuing to buy cheap goods from China that results from slave labour. I will remind you that the CCP is arguably the most oppressive government extant. Their human rights record on trafficking in fentanyl and other hard drugs, organ harvesting, persecution of political and religious opponents, and overall suppression of religious and human rights far outstrips that of even Russia. In fact, the more we socially and economically distance ourselves from the US, the more we become aligned with and dependent on China and their allies (Russian, North Korea, etc.).
I won’t venture to tell you what values you must embrace. My only objective is to expose the pretense that the binary choice is between Canada “strong and free” or becoming slaves to the US. Instead, we must make the binary choice of serving God or the blueprint of the enemy. I can tell you we will not find ourselves on the right side the longer we remain on our current trajectory. We should be “elbows up” against the true enemy of humanity and side with our creator and allow our Lord to be the only True North that guides the course of Canada.
